  • 3D sound cards and F1RS audio problems 1998-06-01 · 26 posts
Users of Ensoniq AudioPCI, Turtle Beach Montego, Diamond MX80 and other Aureal A3D cards reported stuttering engine sounds and wheel spiking in F1 Racing Simulation's 3D sound mode. The workaround found was to use Ubisoft's original SOUND3D patch rather than the later DirectSound patch. A Ubisoft technician reportedly said no further fix would come.
  • NASCAR 1999 lacks multiplayer in Windows mode 1998-11-21 · 21 posts
A buyer was returning NASCAR 1999 because multiplayer only worked in the DOS install. Others said the DOS version runs fine in a Windows DOS box, debated Papyrus's controller support, and Papyrus's Eric Busch explained that Monster Sound cards need a DOS driver for NROS.
  • SB Live Value or Diamond MX300 for GPL? 1999-05-28 · 31 posts
Greger Huttu asked which sound card would best speed up GPL over his SB16. Owners said the SB Live Value is functionally the same as the full Live for games, and Eric Busch explained that upcoming Papyrus titles would support A3D 2.0 and DirectSound3D, while GPL 1.1 would not add A3D. Mark Dod favoured the MX300 for A3D, and a Rendition fan's posts drew mockery.
