I've got Monsoon 702's as well, and they are absolutely spectacular for
the price range.  The new Planar 9's should be even better and at a
great price.  Crystal clear sound.  They lack a bit of midrange, but
I've fixed that on my SBlive with the parametric equalizer hack by
boosting the midrange frequencies 7 Db at a 1 octave range centered at
290 Hz.  They are now full sounding with that tweak.  Also, the
monsoon's planar drivers need some breaking in, so out of the box, they
will have too much treble and will sound tinny.  Play some tunes on them
at moderately high volume and after a couple of weeks of use, the treble
will be reduced and the midrange will come into its own.  Great stuff.

I've got the Klipsch ProMedia 5.1's, and have zero desire to ever own
another set of speakers.

And with the Klipsch's, it's actually possible to do that due to the build
quality.

When the ProMedia 5.1's first came out a year ago there was a problem with a
component in the amp that caused problems for some.  Quite a few, actually.

But Klipsch has been praised for the handling of the issue and as far as I
know this hasn't been a problem for a long, long time.

I had the issue and a brand-new set showed up on my doorstep 2 days after I
notified them by email, and postage was paid BOTH ways by Klipsch.

Not a single issue since.

If the Klipsh ProMedia 5.1's bass sounds muddy to you, then you should clean
the dirt out of your ears before getting them wet in the shower :)

Unfortunately build quality is suspect in my experience.  The 4.1 satellites
had problems after 18 months.  Yes, all 4 speakers.  The jack inputs went
bad (faulty connections where I had to fiddle with the wire just to get
sound).  After "upgrading" (cheaper price yet better speakers) to Monsoon MH
505's (5.1 system) I finally know the full range of sound speakers can
produce.  I've read that the 5.1 are a nice improvement over the 4.1's but
Klipsch has lost me as a customer.  Too damn expensive for that shelf life.

FYI... The 5.1's use standard wire-clips now.

Or longer.  They started off with those ridiculous folded-horn enclosures,
which pumped gobs of muddy bass, with a cement-shattering resonance abt. 80
Hz (or "cps" as we called it in those days).  Klipsch's x.1 computer series
is actually quite listenable, IMO.  I like the Z680s primarily for their
more flexible featureset (digital inputs,etc.)
