Therein lies the key in this case, I believe.  Was the wind quoted in
the original post?

I thought it might be wind too, but 30MPH back wind on the backstretch
means a 30MPH headwind on the front streatch.

Maybe because the front stretch isn't straight, the headwind doesn't
affect speed as much as the tail wind on the backstretch?

OK, I am a new guy around here but I gotta ask...what is cutting the pits and
how do you do it?

It's backing out of the pits so you can get a better running start for a
qual.

It isn't a good idea now, though.  TEN caught on to it, and it now
detects it.  It not only black flags you, but it logs it on TEN's
servers and it's considered cheating.  They have cancelled accounts from
what I understand.
