OT: Why NBC's Nascar Ratings are low...

1.  Can we have a little Racing with our Commercials please?  I mean as
it is, we might was well rename all the races to the "NBC Commercials
500" or something...

2.  How about a little HDTV love?  Other sports are in HDTV, why not
broadcast NASCAR in HDTV?  I just LOVE sitting in front of $10,000 worth
of Home Theatre so I can watch a 35" square area of raster on a 50" 16:9
TV.  NOT!

3.  Hire new commentators.  You've even managed to morph Benny Parsons
into a ranter who has forgotten to talk about RACING!

4.  Watch Fox next season to see how to do it right.

If the above is too difficult, PLEASE let your contract expire.

I go now.

Watch FOX? How about both networks look at old ESPN tapes to see how to do
it right. Benny was there, he should know better...

Just like NASCAR ain't what it used to be so are the broadcasts.

It's all about the money and ratings. When you have exclusive rights, like
Fox and NBC have this is what you get. Exactly what THEY want you to get,
not what you want.

1. Nascar racing in itself is one big commercial. The sport is what it is,
purely because it is such a great format for sticking commericals inbetween
the 20 full course yellows.

2. I can't believe you wasted $10,000 on an HDTV.

3. When you're watching a sport designed to appeal to a redneck mass
audience, you have to expect an uneducated commentator. If he/she dared talk
about something technical, then they'd run the risk of confusing 75% of
their viewing population. It isn't about technology or even racing, it is
about watching cars crash and flip over.

4. Ah yes, Fox Sports. The innovators of the NHL glowing puck... for people
that are too stupid to be able to follow and be entertained by a regular
hockey game.

In the UK, we have a limit of 7 mins of ads per hour, its seems like you guys have 3 or 4 times as
much. I wouldnt watch anything with that amount of ads.

When you guys go to an ad break, we get in-car coverage so from my POV you guys can keep them breaks
coming. :D

says...

Umm, it's no longer design to appeal to rednecks, and THAT's why they
now have stupid commentators - to appeal to the mass of barely educated
morons running around today.  I'm surprised they haven't tried a txt'ing
announcement deal where everyone that pays a ridiculously high amount
can see the race announcing on their cel phones.

Apparently Mike, youve never been to California, New York, New Hampshire,
Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, or Michigan.

Mike:  "people too stupid to be able to follow and be entertained by a
regular hockey game" ????
My grandfather is almost 80, loves hockey, and doesnt see too well anymore.
Please go over and knock on his door and tell him he is too stupid to watch
hockey anymore, and should throw himself in a hole in the ground as not to
offend perfect people like yourself.

 Grow up Mike.

Hey man, I'm not offended at all.. that's your opinion and that's cool. But
I'm pretty sure that fox didn't cartoon-ize hockey so near dying half blind
people can still enjoy the game.

Nope :)
