During the creation of the Formula-related series by Ubisoft, it was chosen
to not make any open-structure for the user to modify or understand.  Thus
was the philosophy of the company.  Basically, the game engine itself isn't
well presented for user modification.

Going back to Nos's point, I have always felt that the perfect balance for a
Formula 1 title would be between F1 2000 and MGPRS2, with a little touch of
Crammond ;-)

how is the recovery on lap 21, 22, 23 and so on, where the real exitement
start

it's more difficult just before the depot stop, I think, and that's where
the really good drivers keep*** in there for a few extra laps

Make sure your racing 100% long races.  If your racing against AI, get the
1.06 patch from www.simracing.com and make sure they're set to 100%
difficulty or more.

I tried a quick race at 20% distance, 5x wear for tires and fuel (hence
100% race distance) and I did a quick lap of 1:27.xx pretty much like the
AI but lost my front wing twice due to trying to put the power on too soon
out of the chicane :-D

Starting from the back in 22nd I finished 2 laps down.  Lots of pitting
was taking place by 1 and 2 stoppers.  Pretty fun actually, I just wish
people would show up for the races ;-)

I have unfortunately never driven an F1 car and was referring to
exactly the two sims you mentioned. It also occurs to me now that
something ELSE is badly wrong in my setup as flooring the accelerator
from a dead stop does not cause any wheelspin(although the car rockets
away nicely).  This is at monaco with the default monaco setup.
Downforce should not have any effect from a dead stop.

I may try the file someone had that they said adjusted the tire
stiffnes.  If anyone has an idea (other than pedal calibration and
traction control in the cheats menu) as to why I can't get wheelspin
off the line I would be interested.

I think they put in an assist for starts.  Try reving the engine in Neutral (gear
0) then pop it into 1st.  You'll see grass in no time :-)
