Lol.

Well, you're a bit rude about it, but...

I'm visiting this newsgroup for the first time in 2 1/2 years tonight
and NOTHING has changed!  Except I can't remember whether
the buzz around the Nascar series was for version 3 or 4.   But
GPL, the sim that prompted me to upgrade my 233 mhz cpu,
is still king of the road.  I guess a serious racing sim is a
specialty item that just doesn't come along every day.  Or year.
Of course in this case we're talking about a game from the
previous millennium, but I digress.

Not that it matters but to "table a motion" (I believe) means that we're
going to move onto other issues for the time being, and come back to the
current one at a latter time.

I think you want to simply make a motion... :)

That is correct. Someone needs to read up on their parliamentary
procedure ;-)

Depends where you are!  "Tabling a motion" in the States is pretty
much equivalent to "shelving" it in the UK; here (UK if you're
wondering!) it means to (metaphorically) lay it *on* the table for
everyone to see and deal with.

Nope. Someone needs to read up on their UK procedure!

Here in the UK, "tabling a motion" means presenting it for debate -
almost exactly the opposite of the US version.

Not that it matters but I'm not American, and therefore not bound by
the constraints of US English, despite what "W" & co. might have me
believe :-)

You're correct in what you say about the meaning of "tabling a motion"
*only* insofar as it applies to US English. In UK English, we "table a
motion" to put if forward for debate. (You can also table an amendment
to a Bill etc.)

You speak the language your way, and I'll speak it mine :-)
